Scroll for all 18 months, further ahead than either platform will take a booking. Minimum stay 2 nights. A night shown free is free to arrive on, which is also why a shaded day can still be a day to leave on: the stay before yours has that night, and you were gone by breakfast.

The place

The Pine House sits in Sherburn Village, three miles from Durham, under a magnificent old pine tree. Bring your dog. Bring your bike. Bring the family.

Three bedrooms and four beds, one king, two small doubles and a single, sleeping five, with a sofa downstairs as well. A large garden, properly secure, which is the part that matters if you are travelling with a dog and tired of hoping.

The outhouse handles the practical side: bike storage, laundry, and somewhere for work kit and muddy boots to live. Everything tidy. Everyone comfortable.

The pub, the Co-op, the bakery, the doctors, the pharmacy and the takeaway are all in the village. Two buses run straight into Durham city centre, and the A1 is a couple of minutes away, so it is an easy base for the coast, the dales and Newcastle as well as the city.
